Is this an Ert game? And if it is, does the maze represent life because there is no escape?

I like the feeling that the issues with him aren't finished. Obviously, I've not played that far. So part of what you're seeing here is me making my own inferences through the lens of character:)

Given that I've seen a sort of "fall from grace" position in most of the origins (or at least, a change or challenge to their normal role) I can play a friendship with Jowan as a tragedy. The first time through though, I was very much annoyed with the presumption:)

That's the thing about Jowan, it's possible either to accept the idea that he's your character's beloved friend, or to interpret him as an annoying hanger-on your character just hasn't quite had the energy to fireball yet. I have two mage characters who've taken things both ways, and it makes for interesting roleplaying later on! :)

I think that evilness is what I was responding to. The game actually made me feel evil for my choices. That's both disturbing and interesting. I admit, at this point, I'm playing to see if I can have multiple mistresses. IIRC, it is possible. I might want to grab a guide just so I don't mess it up.

'Cause I don't think I'll play through this more than once.

Actually, we did get it to work on my XBOX eventually, and if you remember the expansion soured me on the game. We almost didn't buy O2, because I disliked the expansion so thoroughly, and because the difficulty had ramped so quickly I got too frustrated to complete it.

That being said, I didn't enjoy O2 as much as I did O1. Joe is right - the best part for me was wiping out that village, over and over. Yeah, some for the loot but mostly because it was just SO MUCH FUN!

I don't like the concept in O2 of "levels of evil." I hated dominating people. It felt too much like slavery, which is just flat evil imho.

I can see myself going back and replaying O1 again in the future, even though I have completed it a couple of times at this point, but unless I hear better things from Joe, I don't think I'll ever play more of O2.

Besides, where the HECK IS MY LOOT???

I didn't play the expansion, but I think I own it as DLC on the 360. I'm not sure I actually finished the game, and I think that the expansion never worked right for Girl, since she was to the endgame of Overlord before we got it, and it didn't integrate well. She can probably speak more intelligently about it.

I finished the first one recently thanks to a sale on Steam. I gleefully went the evil route without realizing there was even a good route. It's funny, but I farmed the first village too mostly to gather souls.

I have Overlord 2 sitting on my Steam list but I haven't installed it yet because the expansion, Raising Hell, completely soured me on the game. Watching people suffer in Hell was not my idea of a fun time. I didn't feel evil as much as I felt depressed. Did you ever play it?
